Today turned out to be pretty adventurous for all the three of us. In case you are wondering who the third person is – she is Shereen, another intern hired by AMOMA but working in a different department.
So as a part of this week’s assignment, we were assigned to come up with a video for the museum. The video could be anything but feasible at the same time. Our imaginations went wild in order to come with the perfect video. We had to prepare individual videos but that did not stop us from helping each other out. The plan is to upload this video on YouTube and help it in going viral. Get as many clicks on the video as possible.
Also this week we got introduced to a new figure at AMOMA – Orlando. Orlando is often referred by everyone else as the multimedia expert and he was going to help us create our ‘magical’ video. Orlando did spent around an hour teaching us how to handle the video camera equipments and get the most out of them.
So the four of us left AMOMA at around 11 am in my small Toyota Corolla to shoot the video. The weather was definitely not our best friend. But we had a mission and we would not let anything stop us from completing it. Our initial stop was the cultural village created newly close to the Intercontinental hotel. We wanted to record our video over there since it would have an Arab touch to the background. But upon reaching there we found out that the place was closed to the public. We were disappointed but we wanted to get the video done at the same time. So our next stop was – Pearl Qatar. A beautiful man made structure created close to the Ritz Carlton. However, after reaching Pearl and walking around for 10 minutes we realized that it was not a suitable place for the shoot. The background would convey a wrong message to our viewers. Hence Pearl got cancelled as well.
Our third stop was back to square number 1 - Education City which is sort of close to the AMOMA office. Since we all are CMU students we thought of getting our video shooting done over there. Nasreen got hers done next to the majlis area while I mine was done in a computer classroom since I wanted to give a natural feel to it. I hope it did - cause am not much of a video expert.

After driving over 50 kms we finally return back to our office feeling content about the video shoot. It was an awesome experience and also my first video shooting at a professional level!!
I know this is a very looong post but every detail was so memorable and worth mentioning.
